Can you reveal any insider secrets about your live Tinstellation takeover at Westfield Carindale?
RB: You can expect to see me working away on some of my signature jacket pieces, amongst the big tinsel hangings I have created. You will also get an inside look at my design sketches and process drawings – which I very rarely share! Also, prepare to learn all my bedazzling secrets during the workshops I’ll be hosting each day in The Studio.
You’ll be hosting one-on-one workshops each day to show customers how they can transform their favourite everyday items into a unique statement. Can you tell us a little more about this?
RB: Taking something mundane and transforming it into something dazzling is one of my favourite things to do! My workshops at Westfield Carindale will give customers the chance to either re-invent something old that they have forgotten, or imbue something they love with a little more personality. More is more when it comes to these workshops.
You’re a Brisbane based creative with a huge following, can you tell us why you are excited about this collaboration?
RB: I am so excited to work with Westfield and have the opportunity to connect with their customers by sharing my craft with them!
You've seen a sneak peek of the new season fashion trends that will hit stores very soon. What can we expect to dominate our wardrobes this autumn winter?
RB: You can expect to see lots of bright pinks and orange tones for the Autumn season, along with metallic shades (which is great news for me). One of my favourite trends of the season is also big dramatic sleeves which instantly speaks glam!
What three pieces should every woman have in her wardrobe this season?
RB: A feature blouse (ideally with extravagant sleeves) from Gorman, a Country Road wrap dress and a fab pair of sass & bide blue jeans!
What will be the 'it' accessory for the cooler months?
RB: I think skinny sunglasses will continue to have a moment. I also have my fingers crossed that the trend of cute, colourful sneakers will continue to shine!
What do you think will be the most prominent colour of the season?
RB: I think yellow/mustard tones will continue to feature heavily in seasonal colour palettes.
You are known for your distinctive fashion pieces, developed from a colourful wonderland of all things tinsel, pom poms and bedazzlement. We’ve seen on your Instagram that you will rock these eye-catching pieces grocery shopping! What is your style secret to wearing such bold looks anywhere, at any time?
RB: It’s no secret that I don’t mind standing out in a crowd. It definitely takes a bit of courage to stroll out looking completely different to everyone else, so I guess my advice would be to be brave and express yourself!
What’s next for you?
RB: It’s going to be a big year for me. I have a book coming out in September and I’ll be working on a number of installation projects throughout the year. I’m looking forward to Fashion Week and I’ll of course continue to create tinsel pieces along the way.
