Single AF, loved up or in an ‘it’s complicated’ relationship?

So, whether you are loved up, single AF, still figuring it out, playing the field, testing new waters or dabbling in the game of love and lust, then read on because we have put together a simple guide to creating the ultimate Valentine’s Day night-in!

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I can hear mixed emotions of sighs and giggles. I’ve been single every Valentine’s Day for the past 5 years, so I totally understand how overrated and overcommercialised this Hallmark Day is. Though, this year I will be celebrating it with my significant other, I still don’t think I’m 100% on-board with the red-hearted fussy hype.

So, whether you are loved up, single AF, still figuring it out, playing the field, testing new waters or dabbling in the game of love and lust, then read on because we have put together a simple guide to creating the ultimate Valentine’s Day night-in!

Location

Forget the crowded restaurants, overpriced champagne bottles and expensive UBER fares. This Valentine’s Day, why not stay in for a cheaper, less busy, more intimate night of cuteness. Plus, do you really want to spend your evening with other lovey dovey couples gleaming into each other's eyes?

Guest List

If you’re in a relationship, then obviously you’ll want your lover to join you for this romantic evening. But if you’re status is ‘single’ or ‘it’s complicated’, then you’ll want your besties over so you can whinge and wine in a safe space.

Set the mood

Candles are a must for Valentine’s Day. Set the mood by creating ambient lighting with your favourite scented fragrances. To amp things up a little, red helium balloons, rose petals, snuggle throws and oversized cushions will do wonders for the space.

Don’t forget to put together a playlist that involves a little ‘Bump N Grind’ or is the ultimate ‘Girlboss Anthem’.

Champagne is a must on Valentine’s Day. It’s cute and classy. I suggest adding a strawberry for just a hint of fab.

Dinner should involve grazing. A delectable cheese platter filled with your favourite fruits, nuts and crackers will impress your special guest/s.

Dessert needs to be something sweet and sticky. Strawberrys dipped in chocolate, mini raspberry tarts or even love heart shaped brownies will hit the spot.

What to wear

Valentine’s Day demands a red lip, sky high stilettos and a sexy figure-hugging dress. But because we’re keeping this indoors why not play with the concept a little more? If you want to seduce your lover, slip into a sexy silk robe with some even sexier lingerie underneath.

If you’re having your besties over for a tipsy evening of gossipy chats and great laughs, then I suggest a Pyjama party! Throw on your comfiest PJs and some red lippy and you’ll be ready to enjoy the night.

Remember, that no matter what, Valentine’s Day is just a big hyped up day that lasts 24 hours. And finally, you don’t need a partner to survive! Surround yourself with people you care about. That’s what love is, right?

Here are three Valentine's Day favourties that we're obsessed with and need to add to our wardrobes.
