Now that the colder weather is well and truly with us, there is little chance of wearing any of your summer shoes. If you have not already done so, now is the time to add a new pair of autumn boots or closed in shoes to your wardrobe.
Now that the colder weather is well and truly with us, there is little chance of wearing any of your summer shoes. If you have not already done so, now is the time to add a new pair of autumn boots or closed in shoes to your wardrobe.
Reviewing the Novo Shoes collection inspired us to share with you some of the more interesting cold weather footwear trends. As you will see, there is something out there to suit most tastes.
Super flat boots and shoes
Flat shoes and boots are incredibly comfortable. But you rarely see completely flat footwear made available, during the autumn months. This year, you will. Pretty much every designer sent at least some of their models out onto the runway wearing this style of footwear.
Exaggerated-sole boots
At the other end of the spectrum are exaggerated soles. They are super deep and chunky. So, they create quite a striking look. This year, statement boots like these are set to be a big hit with anyone who wants to stand out from the crowd.
Over-the-knee boots are back again
A few years ago, over-the-knee boots started to appear on the catwalks again. But, for some reason, the trend never really went mainstream. From the looks of things, a few designers have decided that we are now ready for them. But, this time around the look is a little different. The boots are typically made from softer materials like suede. So, they hug the legs quite closely.
Riding boot styling
Riding boots look good and are practical and comfortable, which makes them a particularly good choice. Keep a special eye out for re-fashioned versions in cream and beige that are versatile enough to be worn with most styles of clothing. The lines have been softened quite a bit, which is part of the reason they are so versatile. So, you should get plenty of use out of them.
Vintage-inspired heels
However, this year´s autumn footwear trends are not all about boots. There are some beautiful-looking heels available too.
Several designers have turned to the Victorian era for inspiration. So, bows and buckles are very much in evidence. Later in the year, you will also likely see some with rhinestone detailing.
Satin shoes
Unusually for the autumn season, there are some stunning looking satin shoes being sold by footwear retailers. This style of shoe is typically worn for special occasions like christenings or weddings. But they can work well when worn with trousers or jeans. If you do buy a pair, it is probably wise to use the instructions you can find here to waterproof them. Doing so may change the colour slightly, but it is better than ruining them because it rains while you are out.
The above is just a quick roundup. As you can see, there are many different styles available. So, it will not be hard for you to find the perfect pair of autumn boots or shoes for you.
