Will you be embracing Pantone's hottest and most popular colour of 2018?
When Pantone forecasts the colour of the year, the masses take note. The anticipation was high as they announced that PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet will takeover our wardrobes, interiors, Pinterest boards and more.
Last year we embraced Greenery a clean and earthy colour that strutted its way into every trend, and we loved it.
Now, we’re moving past being grounded as we look to the future.
“We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination. It is this kind of creative, inspiration that is indigenous to PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet, a blue-based purple that takes our awareness and potential to a higher level. From exploring new technologies and the greater galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, intuitive Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come,” stated Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institution, Leatrice Elseman.
With the advancement of technology in full force, our current environment is changing rapidly. This shade “communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.”
From a fashion and beauty perspective, 2018 will welcome violet coloured hair, our makeup bags will be filled with moody variations in eye makeup pallets, lipsticks and nail polishes. We can also expect to see this purple shade become the biggest fashion colour to hang in our wardrobes.
If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed and uncertain on how to embrace this hue, don’t fret. According to PANTONE, “…Ultra Violet symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world, and push boundaries through creative outlets.” So really, you can do no wrong.
We recommend adding a little Ultra Violet here and there. It may begin with some flowers in your home, a scarf on you bag or even some purple shoes, whatever it may be start small and work you way up. Before you know it, you’ll be turning heads in a statement head-to-toe pants suit or an oversized checkered coat in the leading colourway.
