In a collaboration between QueensPlaza, The Myer Centre and Wintergarden, Shop Brisbane City will transform the heart of Brisbane’s shopping mecca, the Queen Street Mall, into an explosion of colour and entertainment on the 5 October 2018.

The coveted event, now in its second year, will showcase the most unique aspect of shopping in the City - the exciting outdoor atmosphere and vibrant ambience of shopping ‘Under the Stars’.

This must-attend shopping event of the season has something for everyone with special offers, retailer pop-ups, exclusive gifts and entertainment on offer throughout the day and into the evening with late night shopping. Shoppers will be treated to free food and drink tastings, beautiful balloon installations and make-up touch ups.

Live fashion shows will showcase the latest Spring Summer looks on the Treasury Brisbane Runway, hosted and styled by Treasury Brisbane Fashion Ambassador Christie Sutherland. We sat down with the stylist to find out what's on her wish list and what to expect at the fashion show.

Shop Brisbane City is the biggest shopping party of the year. With so much going on, what’s on your agenda for the evening?

CS: My agenda will absolutely be fashion focused, with the incredible program of shows and designers on the Treasury Brisbane Runway every hour, it will be hard to tear me away- literally. In my spare moments, I will however be sipping on a glass of Ink Gin in the Mercedes-Benz A-Class VIP lounge, trying my luck at the Shop & Pop activation with $30,000 worth of prizes, indulging in stardust themed gelato and ticking my shopping list off at QueensPlaza, The Myer Centre and Wintergarden. I’ll be making sure I indulge in a hearty meal at Blackhide by Gambaro too!

Are there any coveted items on your wish list that you’ll be shopping for on the night?

CS: As a stylist, my list is one that never ends it keeps growing and this event is the perfect shopping platform, if you need an excuse or just love to shop with a side of fun this is it. The launch of the latest Tiffany and Co. Paper Flowers collection has my attention as well as fashion forward pieces from Cue and a sparkle bootie from Wittner, feminine fancies from Thurley and See by Chloe in David Jones, and how could I forget the latest from Elliatt and a pair of Basque The Label from Myer.

What are the biggest trends for the season that you see coming through the boutiques?

CS: When plotting your high-season wardrobe for summer or what to buy at Shop Brisbane City in the boutiques and on the Treasury Brisbane Runway you’ll find; Crayola pantone’s, an attack of pastel shades and flirty shapes, 1980’s inspired day and night options with a puff, power shorts and co-ord suit sets in statement patterns, cupcake ruffle skirts, good sportswear and extra-large totes.

The fashion parade is going to be a show stopper, is there a label that you’re most excited to see strut down the runway?

CS: With 10 shows throughout the day on the Treasury Brisbane Runway presenting coveted fashion from QueensPlaza, The Myer Centre and Wintergarden every label is an exciting one. Luxury has me swooning over Bulgari and Maticevski (Myer) entrance, fashion forward pieces will have me looking to Sheike and Manning Cartel (David Jones) and menswear from M.J. Bale and Calibre will be a dapper arrival to name a few. Each show will have an array of designers on show to truly highlight the incredible retail offering we have in Brisbane City.

In your own words, why do our Fashion Weekly readers need to attend Shop Brisbane City?

CS: It is absolutely an event not to miss, it will be a show stopping moment for Brisbane to see retail shopping giants come together to throw a street party fuelled by more than just fashion. Every turn you take on Queen Street Mall on October 5 will hold a surprise, every store you enter will have new collections available and offers to ensure that what you have been lusting after makes it into your wardrobe, and most importantly seeing Brisbane come alive on a night under the stars is going to be spectacular.
