Check out our exclusive interview with the creative minds behind Andavi Swim.
In the lead-up to Cairns Fashion Week this June, we have chatted with some of the creative minds behind the upcoming runway shows, which are set to be at the forefront of Australian and international fashion, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of tropical Far North Queensland.
Label: Andavi Swim
Tell us a bit about your label.
If you asked me to describe Andavi Swim as a place, I would describe her as being a place where sun moderation and style meet. The inspiration behind our brand comes from our love of the ocean, exploring remote areas of the Great Barrier Reef and waterways off the Queensland coast. I have always felt that choosing to be sun conscious should not mean your time outdoors has to be cut short or you must compromise on style. It was out of these very principles that Andavi Swim was born.
We take an eco-conscious approach to everything we do. We participate in the slow fashion movement through our manufacturing processes, fabric choice and our conscious approach to creating only limited collections.
What has your journey been like to get to this point in your fashion career?
I left my corporate job a couple of years ago to pursue my passion of designing stylish sun protective swimwear for women. I am passionate about creating beautiful sun protective pieces for women that incorporate style and a level of versatility.
How did you come to be involved in the inaugural Cairns Fashion Week?
We love Tropical North Queensland and have visited many times to go snorkelling and explore the reef. It was only natural that we would participate in Cairns Fashion Week because we love the region so much. CFW is also a great fit for us because we are a sun-conscious brand, and we wanted to create more brand awareness for Andavi in a region where sun protection swimwear is needed all year round.
Which Cairns Fashion Week event/s can fashion lovers attend to see your designs?
You can see us at the Neo Swim Resort Showcase on 22 June by the pool at Crystalbrook Riley.
What excites you most about Cairns Fashion Week?
We are so excited to be part of the first Carins Fashion week and network with other local and international designers. Cairns really is the gateway to Tropical NQ and the Great Barrier Reef; this is what will make it a truly unique experience and event that we just had to be a part of.
