When we heard about this ground breaking discovery, we had to share it with you. Read out interview below to find out why we're obsessed with her new range and how you can own one of the most comfortable, stylish and fuss free skirts your closet has ever seen.

Congratulations on the launch of your new label, RP Skirts! Can you tell me about the inspiration behind the collection?

RP: I was inspired from absolute frustration. The skirts I wore to work always twisted as I walked and interfered with my day. I spent a bit of time online googling tips and tricks to combat a twisting skirt and read quite a few blogs offering a “solution” including hairspraying your legs to create static, pinning your skirt to your jumper ( I couldn’t do that to my clothes) and rolling the top of your stockings over your skirt and leaving your shirt untucked (which just was not going to work with my body shape). So, I decided to create a solution myself and I designed a beautiful and functional skirt.

You are a Senior Associate at a boutique law firm, Cudmore Legal, practicing in the areas of family law and criminal law. Taking the plunge into the world of fashion is a huge change. What gave you the courage to pursue this new business opportunity?

RP: Starting and growing a business was always something I wanted to do but, honestly, I didn’t quite realise how big a plunge it would be! Overall it has been worth it to see what was once an idea in my head become a physical product that I can now enjoy wearing to work (and I have enjoyed wearing them for quality testing). I hope many other women will be able to experience the freedom and confidence the RP Skirt has given me.

You seem to have ticked a lot of boxes in the designing of RP Skirts. You’re offering a range of colours and sizes for different body shapes, zero polyester and finally an anti-twist system to hold the skirt in place. Why were these points of difference important and was it tricky combining all of the elements for what really is, the perfect skirt?

RP: Surprisingly, the easiest part was creating the anti-twist system! It is seamlessly sewn into the upper portion of the skirt and only took a few samples to get it perfect. The more difficult task I set myself was creating the different cuts. I looked at the different off-the-rack skirts available and adjusted the shape and measurements quite a few times to get my variations just right. The hardest part was sourcing a reliable supplier of natural fabrics, especially the wool! There are many suppliers of wool suiting, but a lot of suppliers do not repeat their stock of wool suiting. I finally found a company that made beautiful wool suiting in the thread count I required (which I was not going to compromise on as the thread count ensures the skirt sits flawlessly) and available in all different colour so I can offer some variety to my range. The other element of the RP Skirt I would not compromise on was securing an Australian manufacturer which I was able to achieve.

Your Kickstarter campaign launched mid November. Can you tell our readers how they can get behind you and why the need RP Skirts in their wardrobe?

RP: We are currently running a Kickstarter campaign, so our skirts are available for pre-order. There are some substantial discounts for the first 100 customers as well.

What’s next for you and RP Skirts?

RP: I hope the Kickstarter campaign will be successful and I can begin producing the RP Skirts. Once I have shipped the skirts to our awesome backers, I can start designing different styles to add to the range on the online store.

After that? Maybe some other natural fabric clothes to complement our skirts!
